Privacy and terms

What this site and the app do with your data, in plain language.

Privacy

[TBD: formal privacy policy before launch]

This website

This site has no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies. The pages are static. Like any web host, ours keeps standard request logs, such as your IP address. [TBD: hosting log retention, and any analytics]

Starting a free trial

The first time the app opens, it asks this site’s trial service for a trial key. It sends a one-way code that identifies the computer without revealing anything about it, the platform (Mac or Windows) and the app version. The trial service passes these to Keygen, our license provider, to create the trial. Your IP address is used briefly to limit how many trials one address can request. No email address or account is needed.

The app

The app runs on your own computer. On your phone, Stream Organizer Pro Companion works only on your home network. The app fetches scores, schedules and TV listings from third-party sources, and checks its license with Keygen. Streaming sign-ins go to each service in its own page; an MLB.tv login you choose to save is stored on the computer, protected by the system’s secure storage. [TBD: full data inventory]

To pick your local TV listings, the computer looks up its rough area from its internet address with ip-api.com (a plain, unencrypted request), unless you enter a zip code in Settings. The zip code, found or entered, is sent to Gracenote with each listings request. Stream Organizer Pro Companion on your phone loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, and shows the pictures in its Shows and Channels tabs from Gracenote’s image server (tmsimg.com), so both see your phone’s internet address.

Each time the app starts (at most once a day), it asks the download server whether a newer version exists. The request names the platform and the release channel, and like any download it shows the server your internet address. It carries no license key and no computer name. [TBD: update server, set with the first release]

When the app checks its license, it also sends Keygen this computer’s name and network hostname, so the app can tell you which computer a license is running on (for example, “Stream Organizer Pro was started on Den Mac mini”). A computer’s name often includes its owner’s first name; you can change it in the computer’s settings.
